Jessica Brown, Junior, Portland High School, Pitcher, 2017 Maine Gatorade Softball Player of the Year
Jessica led the Bulldogs to a 14-2 record and a berth in the Class A State tournament at the time of her selection. Jessica posted a 9-1 record in the circle with a 1.66 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 72 innings. She also batted .465 with 10 RBIs, a .628 slugging percentage and a .549 on base percentage.
Jessica was also selected as a pitcher to the 2017 SMAA All Star First Team, and the distinction of being selected to the 2017 Telegram All State High School Softball team.
Jessica has maintained a 102.2 average in the classroom. She is also an accomplished pianist, member of the National Honor Society, the Girl Scouts of America and the Math Team. She was also selected as a pitcher to the 2017 SMAA All Star First Team, and the distinction of being selected to the 2017 Telegram All State High School Softball team.

Kirsten Pelletier Named Gatorade 2016 Maine Softball Player
Messalonskee’s ace pitcher Kirsten Pelletier is today named Gatorade Maine high school softball Player of the Year. She is undefeated this season with a .25 E.R.A. In 105 innings pitched, she’s struck out 187 batters. She hits too. .387 batting average and contributed on 30 runs for the Eagles either scoring or driving them in. Congratulations to Kirsten on a big honor.

Sonja Morse Named Gatorade 2013 Maine Softball Player
Sonja Morse of Cony High School was named 2013 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year for Maine. This fall, Morse will bring her talents to the campus of UMass Lowell as the standout pitcher has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the River Hawks.
This past season, Morse spent time on the mound as well as shortstop and first base. As a pitcher, she posted a perfect 11-0 record with a miniscule 0.58 ERA. Morse also tallied 130 strikeouts in 63.1 innings pitched. In the batters box, Morse posted a .549 average with six home runs and 26 RBI.
“We are very happy for Sonja and we are really excited to get her on campus,” said UMass Lowell head coach, Sean Cotter. “She is a hard worker who will make an immediate impact on our pitching staff.”

Julia Geaumont Named Gatorade 2012 Maine Softball Player
Julia Geaumont, a senior at Thornton Academy, was named the Gatorade 2012 Maine softball player of the year Wednesday, combining a great season in the pitching circle and at the plate.
Geaumont batted .679 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI. She also had eight doubles and three triples among her 36 hits. As a pitcher she went 14-2 for the second-ranked Trojans with a 0.656 ERA. She struck out 136 and walked 12 in 96 innings.
Geaumont will attend Bowdoin College next fall and play softball.

Alexis Bogdanovich Named Gatorade 2011 Maine Softball Player

Telstar’s Kayla Merrill, who led the Rebels to back-to-back Class C state champions, was the runner-up in the voting done by the Maine Softball Coaches Association.
The other finalists were Mt. Ararat’s Miranda Riendeau-Card and Lawrence’s Jess Poulin.

Sam Bedore Named Gatorade 2010 Maine Softball Player

The Rams’ righthander, the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year who led Bangor to its first-ever Eastern Maine Class A championship, was named Miss Maine Softball Tuesday night, given to the state’s top senior player.
Bedore was presented with the award after she played for the Maine squad in the Maine-New Hampshire senior all-star game at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.
